Shreshtha Scheme
Key Details of the SHRESHTA Scheme:
Objective: To provide high-quality education to bright SC students and bridge the gap in education services in dominant areas.
Target Group: Students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) studying in class 8th and 10th.
Admission Process: Selection is done through a national entrance test, the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Benefits: Covers full tuition fees and residential charges for students admitted to CBSE-affiliated private schools.
Capacity: Roughly 3,000 students are selected annually for admission to classes 9 and 11.
Modes of Implementation:
Mode 1: SHRESHTA Schools: Top CBSE/State Board private schools.
Mode 2: NGO Programs: Financial aid to NGOs for running residential schools/hostels for SC students.
How to Apply (SHRESHTA 2026):
Examination: Admit cards and results for SHRESHTA-2026 are managed by the NTA.
